Max was born December 10, 1997 in West Hills, California to the proud parents of Michael and Elissa Ranes.  Max grew up in Simi Valley, California with his big brother Alex and baby sister Bella.  Max was always so creative and used his imagination when playing, he could turn any object into a gun and loved to use sound effects!

Max enjoyed school a great deal and attended Township Elementary.  He always received good grades and excellent comments from his teachers.  They all enjoyed having him in their class and he was quick to make friends with his easy- going attitude and great sense of humor.  He attended Valley View Middle School where he was introduced to music and began playing the clarinet in band.  Max attended Simi Valley High School and continued to participate in band and to develop his love for reading. Whenever Max traveled anywhere, he would always find a local bookstore to visit. He was often seen in his housecoat, drinking a cup of tea and reading a good book!  After high school, Max attended California State University Channel Islands and was majoring in Computer Science.  Prior to graduating he moved to Idaho and began working at the same company as his brother, Alex.  He loved Idaho and how beautiful it is and was excited to explore his new home.  He had plans to finish his degree at Boise State University in the near future.

He cherished his time outdoors camping in the desert, motorcycle riding and shooting guns with his dad and the guys.  He had just purchased a new Ford Bronco to pursue his love of being outdoors.  Family was a very important part of his life, as well.  Max, his brother Alex and his sister Bella loved going to Oklahoma every summer to spend time with their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. They all looked forward to time on the lake, driving around in the golf cart and eating massive amounts of corn dogs. Sunday night dinners with Nana and Papa gave him an opportunity to share his amazing sense of humor with his aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was very witty and always made everyone around him laugh.  His family and friends will forever miss this.

Max loved classic rock, vinyl records, outer space, quirky movies, and his family.  He loved being with his extended families and his D & D group he dubbed “The Lads.”  He loved his mama’s pasta sauce and would always request that on his birthday.

We will miss him each and every day but will smile each and every time he enters our thoughts.  We will see you again soon, our sweet boy.

Max is survived by his mother, Elissa Ranes; his father, Michael Ranes; his brother, Alex and his wife Shay; his sister, Isabella; his niece, Lyla; Grandfather, Richard Ranes; Grandfather, Bradford Orloff; Grandmother, Rosemary Orloff; Uncle, Steve; Aunt Brenda and husband Hugh; Aunt, Penny and husband Tim; Aunt Victoria and husband Matt; Aunt, Danielle and husband Evan; and many cousins and extended family.
