Obituary of Anna "Jean" Tuller

Anna ‘Jean’ (Thompson) Tuller was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on October 21st 1925 to Arthur and Annabel Thompson.  Her mother died 18 days later, leaving little Jean to be raised by her uncle and aunt in Torrington Wyoming.  As a youngster, she attended a one room school house, sometimes riding her horse to school.  As a youth, she participated in choirs, singing contests, and 4-H.

Jean graduated from Huntley High in 1944. She attended nursing school at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise.  She met Bill Tuller on a blind date. They married on Aug. 26th, 1948. After Jean graduated a month later, they moved to Boulder, Colorado for Bill to complete his education.  After Bill’s graduation, they returned to Boise.  During this time Jean worked as a surgery and obstetrics nurse at St. Luke’s hospital.

A faithful life-long Christian, Jean has lived life as a servant and helpmate to her husband, family, and community.  Growing up in a time when self-sufficiency was valued, Jean helped run the small family farm: caring for livestock, irrigating pastures, gardening and canning produce, all done with patience and ease. Jean was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and 4-H leader for her daughter Kim.  She was involved with ski racing for years to support her son Jeff.  Jean was a helpful neighbor, compassionate friend, and involved member of her family.

Later, Jean volunteered at St. Alphonsus Hospital as a floater and served her church as a Deaconess. She served as an election worker for many years.

Jean and Bill enjoyed horsemanship, raising Arabian horses for years. Both belonged to the Des Arab Club.  Jean rode in parades and pleasure rides.  As an active member in the Bogus Basin Ski Club, she continued to help with races and enjoy great times with her friends in ski club.  Camping and traveling with Bill were highlights in later years.  She also belonged to several bridge groups and Extension Club. Her biggest pleasure came as a mom and grandmother.  Jean was a great cook.  Her homemade dinners were anticipated and delicious.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncle, and her siblings Larry Thompson and Laura Justis.

Jean and Bill were married for 70 years.  She is survived by Bill, her daughter Kimmly (Mark) Longstroth, her son Jeff (Tammy) Tuller, and her grandchildren; John and Vivi Longstroth, Paul, Andrew and Liam Tuller, Hanna and Josh Dichter.  Jean is also survived by Melissa Eble and by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday Oct 20th at 1 PM at South Minister Presbyterian Church, 6500 Overland Rd, in Boise.
