Obituary of Karen L. Frans

KAREN LEIGH ALLEN FRANS, 62, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 19, 2018, at St Luke’s Hospital in Boise Idaho. 

She was born February 27, 1956 in Long Beach California to John W. (Bill) and Betty J. Dungan Allen.  Karen moved to Idaho with her family in 1958, where she attended Hillcrest Elementary School, South Jr High and graduated from Borah High in 1974.

She met the love of her life, Victor L. Frans, when she was a senior and they were married on February 2, 1974.  Vic and Karen were blessed with two children – Heather Leigh and Matthew Wyatt, and for the last 30 years have made their home in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.

Karen worked for Morrison-Knudsen/Washington Group for 25 years as a Risk Manager.  At the time of her death, she represented US Ecology for 12 years as their Risk Manager.

Karen enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, board and card games, and going to Jackpot with friends. She loved collecting shot glasses in which we all contributed.  Her most recent pastime has been spent playing with her grandchildren, Alexis, Wyatt and Henley who were one of the biggest highlights of her life; next to her husband and son. 

In addition to her parents, Karen is predeceased by their daughter Heather.  She is survived by her husband, Vic; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Sharon Frans; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Mike McPeak; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Cindy Allen; grandchildren, Alexis, Wyatt and Henley Frans; mother-in-law, Betty Frans; sister-in-law Donna Easley and her husband Mike; sister-in-law Cindy Wunder; sister-in-law Linda McCaffery; brother-in-law Jim Frans and his wife Vicky; several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

Karen was loved by all who knew her.  She was a special spirit with a gentle soul.  We are all better for having had her in our lives.
