E. Eileen Hill

December 17, 1932-October 20, 2018

Ellen Eileen Hill peacefully returned to the Lord on October 20th, leaving behind the discomfort and struggles that plagued her final years. She was the second oldest of four sisters, born to Elva Spencer Harshbarger and Jay Bower on December 17, 1932 in Cushing, Nebraska. She graduated from Parma High School in 1951, and spent many years living in Caldwell, Idaho before moving to Boise, Idaho in 1977. Eileen remained in Boise until she returned to Caldwell in her final years. After having two children, Cheryl and Kevin, with her first husband, Eileen married Robert “Bob” Hill on September 11,1976 in Winnemucca, NV.

Eileen loved her church, community, family, and friends. She was a member of Boise Eagle Auxiliary 115 for many years, as well as the Christian Motorcycle Association. Eileen spent much of her time traveling with Bob, whether it was on the back of their 1977 Goldwing or in their RV. She enjoyed her retirement, visiting all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea. Much of her time was also spent at the family cabin in Cascade, enjoying the company of family and friends.

The Lord was a cornerstone in her life. Often early to church and one of the last to leave, Eileen spent her life a devout Christian. She was an active member of the choir for many years and often attended women’s retreats. Even as church attendance became difficult as her health declined, Eileen continued her studies and nurtured her relationship with the Lord.

Eileen loved the traditions her family developed over the years. She never missed the annual Christmas cookie baking extravaganza, Sunday dinners, or weekend breakfasts, complete with personalized character pancakes. In recent years, you knew you could always find her having clam chowder with her son-in-law, Nick, every Friday.

She is survived by son, Kevin (Judy), son-in-law, Nick, daughter-in-law, Sally, sisters, Elaine and Lois, grandchildren, Robert (Rhonda), Diana (Chad), Nick Jr. (Debbie), Bradly (Sara), Jason (Jessica), Vanessa (Adam), Kristina (Joey), Emily, and great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Alyssa, Tessa, Tyler, Shelby, Hanna, Kylie, Kellen, Cable, Olivia, Reid, Kamden, and Kaiden. She is greeted in heaven by her parents, Elva and Jay, her sister, Irene, her daughter, Cheryl, and her step-son, Kevan.

Eileen was a strong and steadfast woman, unwavering in her faith and devotion to her family. She touched innumerable lives with friendship and love during her time on this Earth. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Funeral services are to be held on Monday, October 29th at 1:00pm at Summers Funeral Home 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian, ID 83646 with a family viewing starting at 12:00pm. Graveside service to follow at Morris Hill Cemetery.
