Obituary of Benjamin James Coble

Benjamin James Coble, 65, of Meridian, Idaho passed away peacefully on November 15, 2018 with his family and friends at his side.

Born on October 4, 1953, in Boise, the second son to Charles H. Coble and Helen Rinehart Coble, he was always larger than life. He started as his mother’s buddy, as he grew, he worked several summers on the family ranch in Canada and found jobs to earn everything he had. He graduated from Capitol High in 1971, then continued onto WyoTech in Wyoming, where he graduated with honors and earned a degree in Mechanics.

Back to Boise, he became one of the youngest employees at Yanke Machine Shop. From there, he began building jets boats, including his father’s, and solidified his lifelong passion for white water adventures. He continued to work with his hands at Nelson-Deppe until his life moved him in a new direction. He spent the last forty years at the helm of The Coble Company.

In 1979, he met the love of his life and best friend, Linda Gordon. Committed to each other from day one, they soon blended their families. Ben’s daughters, Cassie and Angie, and Linda’s son, Bill. Ben and Linda have lived together in Meridian for the past thirty-nine years and in early 1990, together built their log cabin in Cascade, Idaho. The entire family continues to build special memories there. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, jet boating, scuba diving, motorcycles, ATV’s and UTV’s.

Ben’s legacy lives on through his wife, Linda; his mother, Helen; his children Cassie Coble, Angie Coble (son-in-law, Cody Ross) and Bill (Amanda) Todd. Also, through his grandchildren, Jordan Coble; Xara, Suli and Corbin Todd; and Riley Ross. Additional family includes, his mother-in-law, Sue Gordon; brother-in-law, Tom (Cheri) Gordon; and sister-in-law, Sherry Coble. He also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
