Obituary of Alice Klocke

Alice Klocke passed away Monday, January 7 at Grace Memory Care in Eagle, Idaho at the age of 87. From her birth in Rugby, ND, on May 18, 1931 to her death on Monday she nourished people around her with her love, faith, and music. She was born to Frank and Amelia Reiss and was the second youngest and last surviving sibling of eight. After graduating from high school in Sanborn, ND, she worked as a telephone operator in Aberdeen, SD. She later moved to San Bernardino, CA with her family where she met her husband, LeRoy “Lee” Klocke, a USAF airman at USO dance. He stole her away from her date with a broken leg and they both discovered they were from North Dakota. A few months later; Lee and Alice were married in 1952 in San Bernardino. They welcomed eight children into the world and instilled the love of laughter and music in their merry bunch. Alice will be remembered as a deeply devoted mother, an amazing cook and baker, and a true daughter of Christ, with deep devotion to her faith. Mom’s Honey Cookies and the love she poured into every meal she made will always be our fond memories.

Left to honor Alice and remember her love are Alice’s eight children, Michael Klocke, Patrick (Julie) Klocke, David (Kim) Klocke, Steven (Tammy) Klocke, John (Jan) Klocke, Todd (Sue) Klocke, Lee (Susi) Klocke, and Julie (Jesse) Cabinaw, twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lee and her siblings Irene, Elizabeth “Betty”, Amelia “Amy”, Frank, Eva, Edward “Eddie”, and Eleanor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11:00 Am at Holy Apostles Church, 6300 N. Meridian Road, Meridian, Idaho, with Father Len MacMillan officiating. Burial will follow at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Eagle, Idaho. Donations may be made in Alice’s name to Catholic Relief Services.
