Obituary of Frank Strauser Stott

Frank Strauser Stott, December 18, 1929 - January 12, 2019 Life sketch written by Frank 2014

Born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to John William Stott and Elsie Mary Strauser Stott. I had two brothers and two sisters; John (Alberta), Helen (Andy) Stokes, Mary (Bob) Criger, and George (Susan).

Our little country school for grades 1-9 was about three hundred yards from our front door at the ranch. When my sister went to school and I was five I decided to go to school too and they let me stay. I was in school for most of 1934 to 1990. I went to high school in Cardston. After high school I enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College, going to school part-time and helping on the ranch during calving, lambing, and haying time.

I went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Central States Mission

1951-1953; then back to school. USAC had changed to Utah State University. I graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts Education with minors in mathematics and drafting.

I married Arlene Maughan and moved to Montello, Nevada, to teach in the high school.  Our three children are Edward, David (Linda), and Sue Fuller (Ray). I worked in Montello for three years then went to the University of Utah and received my Master's Degree in Math Education; then to Elko, Nevada, and taught Mathematics and Land Surveying in Elko High School. I retired in 1990. I did my Teacher recertification in summer schools at the University of Nevada Reno and Las Vegas and the University of Phoenix. I taught some evening classes at the Community College in Elko.

I served in many Ward and Stake callings including Scouting, Bishop of the Elko Second Ward, and councilor in the Stake Presidency. My wife, Arlene died in 1996 of cancer.

On February 14, 1998, I married JoEtta Wilson and moved to Boise, Idaho. We served a CES (Church Education Service) mission at the LDS Institute at Boise State University, then served an LDS mission to New Zealand. We were temple workers in the Boise Temple for about three years.

Post Script: Frank did a lot of indexing (537,183 names) with the last name done on Thursday, January 10th. He loved to swim and just a week before his passing he had finished his 3,360th mile.
