Obituary of Quillen Waydean Whaley

Devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Quillen W. Whaley died at home on July 22 at the age of 73.

 

Quillen was born in Artesia, New Mexico on May 22, 1946 to Clarence and Ola Whaley.

 

Quillen proudly served his country in the Vietnam War before an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. He was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for a majority of his life where he and his wife lived and proudly raised their family.  He took pride in his work during his long career with Diebold.  He loved his family, beagles, Dallas Cowboys, gardening and making jam with his wife.  In 2016, they moved to Boise, Idaho in order to be closer to family.

 

Quillen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Whaley and beloved dog Daisy. Sons, Brian Whaley and his wife Karen, Robert Whaley and his wife Jennifer. Grandson Derrek Brent and his wife Kami. Granddaughters Emily and Savannah Whaley. Great-Grandsons Xander and Thorin Brent. Sister Brenda Dowell and her husband John. He is preceded in death by his parents.

 

Quillen had many family and friends that made his life so special and who will miss him dearly.

 

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m.on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Summers Funeral Home - Ustich Chapel: 3629 E Ustick Rd, Meridian ID 83646.  Inurnment with MIlitary Honors will be held at 2:00pm  at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery: 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise ID 83714
