Obituary of Connie Pharaoh

Constance Lunt Pharaoh was born on June 1, 1932 in Bar Harbor, Maine to Harold Sr. and Winona (Hentz) Lunt.  She had one brother, Harold Jr.  She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1950, where she was known for being a good student.  She was the one student chosen to work as a switchboard operator for the telephone company, which was an honor in that day.  She was fond of her family and held her grandparents, cousins, nieces, and nephews very close to her. 

She met her husband, Robert Pharaoh, on a blind date in August 1952.  His best friend was dating Connie’s best friend, and they introduced them while the men were on leave from the Navy.  Little did they know, but they were both allergic to shell fish and became very sick with their first meal together.  Things definitely got better, as Robert would hitchhike across the country to see her, and they married the following May.  Their daughter, Barbara, was born three years later. 

Connie devoted her life to her husband and then daughter, as she decided to be a stay-at-home mother.  Robert would be sent out to sea for months at a time, and Connie had many responsibilities to handle on her own.  No matter where she lived, she would keep in touch with her family and friends, whom she held dear to her heart.  She had an eye for detail and would keep track of dates and notes, so she would not forget anything.  Connie did not have financial riches, but she was rich in spirit, had a big heart, and loved serving people in need.  She would drive people to doctor’s appointments, make meals, call and check on people having difficulties in their lives, sit with people in the hospital, pray for people, whatever was needed. 

Connie was truly a Lunt.  She could talk with anyone, tell a good story, and had a great sense of humor.  She learned how to sew and could tailor the most beautiful clothes for daughter and herself.  She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, and doing needlework of any kind.  Her telephone was always with her, and we loved it when “call waiting” was invented, because otherwise it could take hours to get through on the line.  Connie enjoyed selling Avon and won many awards through the years.  It is obviously a good product, as Connie had no wrinkles when she passed at 87 years old.  Connie’s Christian faith was very important to her, and she would say “Jesus is my best friend.” 

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and had six miscarriages.  She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wright, and beloved grandsons, Michael, Matthew, and Nathaniel Wright.  After Connie’s mother died, her father remarried, and Connie has a sister, Lori Lunt (Randolph).

Connie’s family has a great deal of gratitude to the staff at Lighthouse Hospice and Grace Assisted Living on State Street for the great care, love, patience, and compassion shown Connie.  You made a tremendous difference in her life.  She loved the extra efforts you gave in her care, as there was always a certain way she liked things done.  Thank you to all of her friends who did so much for her through the years. 

Connie’s memorial will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 1:00 pm., at West Meadow Estates Clubhouse, 120 Driftwood Rd, Boise, ID  83713.  She loved living in her home there, and she missed it when she needed to go to assisted living.  Family invites you to attend this celebration of her life.  Desserts will be served after the celebration, as Connie would always eat dessert, even if she did not want to eat a meal.
