Joyce Elveretta (Palmer) Swanson

Joyce was born January 24, 1928 in Vale, Oregon. She was the first of eight children born to Arthur and Joney (Erma) Palmer. She married Robert Jennings Swanson in 1945 and they had two daughters, Barbara and Christina. Joyce lived most of her life in Malheur County. Her lifelong passions were her family, her faith and helping others. Joyce’s favorite hobbies were gardening and genealogy. She was an avid crafter and always had handy work in progress. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Arthur and Joney Palmer; and brothers, Bill, Tom, and Dick Palmer. She leaves behind daughters, Barbara Wayne of Boise and Christina and husband Ken Bernet of Scappoose, Oregon; her grandchildren, David (Beckie) Wayne, Judy Wayne, Steve Bernet , Gary Bernet; great grandsons, Mason and Austin Wayne; brother, Carlton Palmer; sisters, Donna Tolman, Phoebe Mendive, and Kay Lamb; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Joyce passed away in Boise, Idaho October 24, 2019. She will be deeply missed and now is rejoicing in the arms of her Lord and Savior.  Graveside services will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Valley View Cemetery, 1699 Valley View Rd, Vale, OR 97918.
