Obituary of Mary L. Westby-Smith

Mary L. Westby- Smith, 72, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, peacefully at her home with family.  A memorial service will be held on March 21, 2020 between 1pm - 4pm, at Summer’s Funeral Home, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian, Idaho.  Pastor Chad Estes will be officiating.

Mary was born in Boise, Ada County, on March 16, 1947, a daughter to Reinhold H. and Blanche E. Trager, who resided at 2122 N. 20^th St.  At some time she moved with her family to a farm between Boise and Meridian, where she grew up and developed her love for animals, especially horses.

She married and divorced a couple of times and had 2 children, one from each marriage. During her 2^nd marriage she purchased and moved back into her family home on 2122 N. 20^th St. in Boise.  She married and divorced one more time and moved to Meridian before she married the love of her life, Larry Smith.

She put herself through college and started her career as an X-ray technician. She worked her way up and was the manager of her department for the last 13 years of her career before she retired. 

Mary loved God, her family, good friends, music, flowers, gardening, fishing, camping, day hikes, you name it she loved life and the outdoors.  Her presence with us will be sorely missed.  She is loved.

Mary is survived by her husband, Larry Smith; a brother, Reinhold H. Trager; a daughter, Tracy Maki; a son, Michael Westby; two grandchildren, Tawny Maki and Trenton Maki; and a great grandson, Trystan Maki.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
