Many years ago, I was called for jury duty, and had just spent the weekend bicycling to Discovery Park below Lucky Peak Dam and trying to get a rockchuck to eat out of my hand (unsuccessfully). Monday morning in the courtroom, I end up sitting next to a couple of less-than-stellar human beings bragging about shooting rockchucks over the weekend. The subject matter of the upcoming trial would be emotionally exhausting, the trial was expected to last several weeks, if not a couple of months, and I really didn't want to spend ANY time with these folks. Aside from that, a physician in the jury pool was throwing a very loud verbal tantrum at not being dismissed immediately from the jury pool. Good times.
When Rich Hall called on me, he immediately addressed me correctly as "Ms." not "Miss" or "Mrs." which would have engendered awkward explanations, and went out of his way to ensure that I neither embarrassed myself nor unwittingly incited the ire of other jurors. In short, he gave me a calm and dignified exit out of the jury pool (I knew and had worked for the attorneys on the other side of the case). For which I am still grateful, many years later. Such a gentleman, and such a kind man.
My deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.

I just wish I could have heard him sing!

My sympathies to Tonya and the entire family. I worked with Rich at Moffatt Thomas. He was not only a fantastic attorney but also a fantastic human being. I got to hear his singing at the office and watched him recently on the COVID fundraiser at St. Luke’s. He brought joy to many and will missed. I will remember him fondly.
