Douglas Harry Kanatzar, 62, passed away from a short fight with leukemia on November 11, 2020 at his sister’s house in Boise surrounded by family.

Doug was born on November 18, 1957 in Denver, Colorado to Harry H. Kanatzar Jr. and Dorothy Mildred Kanatzar (Merrell). Doug moved with his family from Denver to Idaho Falls, Idaho when he was five years old. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1976 and from I.T.T. Technical Institute- Boise in 1979. Doug lived in Boise for 44 years where he worked for Kimco Design and Manufacturing.

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his nephew Nick, niece Ashley, and Ashley’s three children.

Doug is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Mickey) Merrell; brother, Stephen Kanatzar; sister, Kathryn Kanatzar; nieces, Jacquelyn Ripke and Ashley Morrison; nephews, Stephen Kanatzar, Nicholaus Morrison, and Cameron Kanatzar; nine great nieces and nephews, along with his best friend Matt Yarbrough.

Doug was preceded in death by his father

Services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Vineyard Church in Garden City at 1:00 p.m.
