The family's farming took them to the Fort Hall Indian Reservation where land was available to lease. The Allreds were already there for the same reason. This is where Maudene and Boyd met and their courtship began. They married on March 15, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Boyd's training as a welder moved them to Boise in 1964 where they lived for nearly 60 Years in the same home. Three children joined their family: Deanne, Laren and Jay and then 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Maudene's creative talents were endless. Her creative accomplishments include managing a wedding decorating and catering business and a lifelong career as a seamstress. She was practically legendary in her ability to take 3 or 4 pictures from a
prospective bride and design a perfect one-of-a-kind wedding gown. Her hands were ALWAYS busy....if not serving and doing for her family or others, she was always crocheting or quilting or tatting beautiful lace.
Maudene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved reading the scriptures with Boyd and had a powerful testimony of her faith.
Maudene loved children and she loved being a Grandma. She had a way of making special days and holidays special, and was absolutely faithful in seeing that those she cared about received cards on their birthdays.
Both Boyd and Maudene enjoyed t th e outdoors. They always said that their best investment in their life was the purchase of a Kit camper trailer which provided memory upon memory of fishing and camping trips with their friends and family over the years.
Maudene is survived by her three children and spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Bessie Hodgson, and her sisters Clara Pruette, Marie Campbell, and Verna Carpenter.
