Rayola Gillman Barker, 85, passed away Sunday April 18, 2021 of natural causes in Meridian Idaho.

Rayola was born June 10, 1935 in Linden Utah to Alvin (Snow) M. and Louie Thorne Gillman. Rayola was the only girl in the family; she had 3 older and 3 younger brothers. She attended grade school and high school in Pleasant Grove. After high school she got a job working in a bank, which is where she met the man who would become her husband and eternal companion. Frank Arden Barker and Rayola were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1957. Frank and Rayola lived for a time in Brigham City Utah, before moving to Richland Washington. From there they settled in Meridian Idaho and raised three wonderful children. Upon retiring they resided full time in Garden Valley. The valley’s hummingbird population will miss Rayola.

Rayola worked hard raising their three children while also growing large gardens, spending time in the great outdoors and dedicating much time to serving in numerous callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

After Frank retired the two served a full time mission for the church; serving in the Senior Missionary Department in Salt Lake City Utah.

A devastating moment occurred in Rayola’s life when on April 17, 2000 her beloved Frank passed away.

She made the most of the difficult situation by continuing to serve in her church callings and spending time with family and friends. She spent time vacationing with her children and their families.

Her life took another turn when in January of 2008 Rayola married Dale Jones. The two spent years traveling around the world and sharing many fantastic experiences together. Rayola loved living in Garden Valley. She and Dale made many wonderful friends there. In time the world travels were replaced by quiet peaceful days in their Garden Valley home.

Rayola is survived by her husband Dale Jones; two brothers, Leon and Clint Gillman. Her three children: Dalene (Jim) Bates of Meridian, Ronald G (Georgia) of Lewiston and Reese F (Jana) of Meridian; grandchildren, BreiAnne (Andrew) Barnes of Lewiston, Cody (Emma) Barker of Lewiston, Tyler (Shannon) Bates of Columbus Mississippi, Kyle (Matti) Bates of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kiley (Angel) Alvarez, Keaton and Kendra Barker. Great Grandchildren: Ryder and Kayden.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Frank, parents and brothers: Lowell, JVar, Dale and Paul.
