Alice Saleen

Obituary of Alice Latrice Saleen

Latrice passed away at home Friday April 30th, 2021. Latrice was absolutely the kindest, nicest, loving, devoted, resilient and toughest person. She was born in Bellevue Texas to Hillary and Mary Towles and grew up on a TX homestead until the Dust Bowl moved them to Levelland TX. She walked the paths of Native Americans, picked cotton by the age of three and saw the Hindenburg fly over and enjoyed Dragon Space X. Her education includes a double Masters in Mathematics and Science. After WWII while teaching school in Amarillo Texas she met a “brash” Marine, Merrill Saleen at his Aunt’s boarding house. They married and moved to Cobalt ID. Until Merrill’s death in 2009, they were married 56 years. They had three children all surviving, Sheila Wagner, Pamela Monson and Merrill Robert Saleen. She returned to teaching in 1964 to help put Merrill through college and was very instrumental in the development and production of the patented lifesaving device SoSpenders. The joy of oil painting was a passion, she was a concert violinist and enjoyed her quail and foxes. She lived full and well. Latrice’s giving from a heart of love was a source of great joy and she is now in the company of beloved family members and in the care of Jesus.
