Obituary of Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann (Conrad) McRoberts

It  is with profound sadness that we announce  the passing of  Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann (Conrad) McRoberts,  our  loving sister,  grandma, auntie and friend to  all and whose lives she touched. Betty was called home by her Lord and Savior at the age of 83, on December 28, 2021, in Boise, Idaho. She will be laid to rest on January 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. Westend Cemetery, Buhl, Idaho.

She was born to Alonzo and Mable Conrad on June 29, 1938 in Verona, MO.

Her parents moved the family to Kimberly, Idaho when she was 9 months old and Pompa (her dad) built a small box for her to ride in for their new adventure. Betty attended and graduated from Kimberly High School and was accepted into the Saint Alphonsus Nursing Program which she graduated with honors as a Registered Nurse. She worked for St. Alphonsus for 42 years, at the time of retirement she was in charge of infection control.

Betty married her love, Rev. Ellis McRoberts in March 1974 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Boise, Idaho.  They had a beautiful marriage of 37 years when Ellis passed away in April 2011. With this union, Betty became a mother of three stepsons and a grandmother. Her family brought her great joy. Betty was known to go out of her way for her grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews.

She loved the McRoberts and Conrad summer family reunions and the opportunity to spend time with family. Betty and her sisters would design a special ornament for each Conrad Christmas. These ornaments have become sentimental treasures for everyone. She loved baking and sending treats to the 'grands' like chocolate chip banana cookies and peanut clusters.  Her 'great grand' Mikayla said she made the best hot chocolate and everyone has enjoyed her 'green jello' every Christmas.

Betty's loved language was definitely service. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene. She loved Jesus and always eager to share His love with others. Betty's own unconditional love and willingness to help others develop many lifelong friendships from nursing school, church, neighbors and even the lady at the grocery store. She touched many lives and her presence will be missed. However, our memories of her will be always something to treasure. After Ellis and Betty's retirement they enjoyed entertaining friends and family in their home and traveling, especially to the Oregon Coast, but nothing was more beautiful to see than their own State of Idaho. They treasured the simple things in life, their family, friends and their church. They would spend hours putting together many puzzles, many of which have been preserved and framed.

She is survived by her sisters, Irene Ferguson, Ruth Bakewell and sister-in-law Joanne Conrad, Keith's wife Jennier McRoberts, four grandchildren, Tonnie Kuhlman, Bryan McRoberts, Cody McRoberts and Kelli L aBonte'. Ten great grands and one great-great grand; many nieces and nephews and a ton of friends. The status of her step son Kenneth and his wife Gigi are unknown.

Betty was preceded in death by her love Ellis, stepson Steve, his wife Ethel, stepson Keith, two great grandsons, Nate Vandenberg and Trevor Miller, three infant great grand LaBonte' babies; her parents, four brothers John, Howard, Raymond and Gerry.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Meridian, Idaho.
