Obituary of Delpha Delores Skoro

Delpha Delores Skoro (Hill) passed away peacefully on 3/15/2022. She was surrounded by her loving family until the very end.

Delpha was born on March 11, 1928, in Sweet, Idaho, to Lawson and Edna Hill (Bellus).   She arrived during the worst snowstorm of the season and was delivered into her father’s loving arms before the doctor arrived.

Delpha was the 5th of 6 children and the first girl for Lawson and Edna.  Her brothers, Kenneth, Carroll, Leslie and Forrest welcomed her and were always her protectors. Her sister, Shirley, arrived when Delpha was 5 years old and, their mama, Edna, died just a few short days after Shirley was born. Delpha’s life changed dramatically with the death of her mother.

Delpha attended school in Sweet, Idaho until her 8th grade year.  She then went to boarding school at St. Teresa’s Academy in Boise, Idaho.  It was there she was first introduced to the Catholic church.  The nuns were wonderful role models, and she was truly happy there. She attended college at Northwest Nazarene College, in Nampa, but chose to discontinue school when she met her husband, Boyd Skoro.

Delpha and Boyd were married in Elko, NV on June 29, 1946, and their marriage lasted almost 62 years. They started their married life in Stibnite, Idaho, where Boyd drove an ore truck for the mine. They lived in Stibnite, Emmett, Fairfield, Pine and Astoria before settling in Boise. Their children joined them along the way, Chuck, born in Stibnite, ID, Barney, born in Emmett, ID, Teresa Marie, born and died in Astoria, OR, Tom, Becky and Dick all born in Boise, ID.

Delpha was a devoted mother and wife. She stayed home with her family until her youngest child was in junior high when she went to work as a nurse’s aide.  She worked in a few different jobs as an aide, but her true love was home health. She worked with Community Home Health until her retirement.

Delpha and Boyd enjoyed their retirement years in Cascade, Idaho.  They built a small cabin and enjoyed mountain activities like hunting for huckleberries and fishing.  They especially enjoyed getting to know friends through the senior center.

Delpha was very involved in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, in Cascade. She sang with the choir until she had to move back down to Boise in late 2019.

Delpha was an avid game player and loved to put puzzles together and she spent the last couple of years, with her family, doing just that.

Delpha lived a rich life and was very healthy and happy. She was loved by her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed.

Delpha is survived by her children, Barney Skoro (Linda) and Becky Ramsey (Dennis); her grandchildren, Josh Skoro (Heidi), Amy Skoro Booth (Jason), Karma Skoro Briggs (Sean), Elisabeth Skoro, Emily Skoro (Brandon), Jake Skoro, Angie Hancock (Don), Adam Ramsey (Mallory), Patrick Ramsey (Linda), Dane Ramsey and Jonathan Ramsey (Trasey).  She was also blessed with 17 great grandchildren.

Delpha was preceded in death by, her husband, Boyd, and her sons, Chuck, Tom and Dick.
