Donna Jessen

Obituary of Donna Jessen

Donna Jessen passed away at St. Luke’s Meridian on March 24, 2022. Donna was born June 28, 1928, the 4th child of Cecil LaMar and Alice Elizabeth Pace Ferguson in Murray Utah. The family moved to Nampa to live with Donna’s grandparents after the death of her father and she lived in Nampa until after high school. She married Robert Jessen in 1946 and together they had three boys, LaMar, Tony and Kevin. They moved to Eagle shortly after the birth of LaMar and lived there until her passing. The family loved to camp and spent many happy days with family and friends in the Idaho outdoors. Donna had many roles throughout her life; she drove a school bus for many years, taught swim lessons to local children and retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1983. Prior to the population growth in Eagle, Donna could tell you almost every person in the area, where they lived, and knew their families. She was a wealth of knowledge about Eagle and its residents. After retirement Donna and Bob spent many years traveling around the US in their pick-up camper. Donna was a long-time member of the Eagle Pinochle Club, and engaged in many hobbies throughout her life, ranging from ceramics and tole painting to the needle arts, including cross stitch and needlepoint. For the last 25 plus years, quilting took precedence over all her other hobbies. Many of her beautiful quilts won ribbons in quilt shows around the Treasure Valley and surrounding area and several of her quilts have been gifted and are being enjoyed by family and friends. Every hand of pinochle and game of dominoes will keep Donna in our hearts forever. She is survived by her son Tony (wife Evelyn), son Kevin (wife Debi), granddaughters Kelly (Michael) Roberts, Courtney Jessen (fiancé Mike Calhoun), great grandsons Dustin, Sawyer, Logan and Walter, one great granddaughter Sunny, her sister Wilma and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her oldest son LaMar, both her parents, her brother Glen, and sister Jean. Funeral arrangements are being made through Summers Funeral Home.
