Luella Mae “Turner” Witt

Mom passed away Wednesday May 4, 2022, at a nursing facility with her family around her.

Born to Frank and Beatrice Turner on 12/16/1927 in Richfield Idaho .1 of 11 children She told many stories of her childhood growing up and living through the depression and sharing shoes with her sisters so one could go to school one day, and then the other wearing them so they could go the next day. She played basketball and ran track in high school. She and her best friend, Pansy would hop on a train and ride the rails to find jobs in Sun Valley.

She married Everett Witt in 1947 and they had many adventures living in mining towns and lumber communities. They had 2 children, Carla and Gary. As a young woman she had her family invested in square dancing, and card games, and she was an avid bowler. She followed Everett to Alaska to work and became very good at knitting many beautiful sweaters that have been handed down to family members, and learned to paint by number and produced many beautiful pieces of art. 

Mom ended up in Boise, from Moyie Springs Idaho working at St Alphonsus Hospital and retired from the kitchen. While still working she was on the bowling and baseball teams. She was the matriarch of our family,

 She was always holding a baby or playing games with them. She would tell the Grandchildren stories of her family, their lives growing up and old funny songs and poems created by her or her mother. She loved crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles which some were turned into beautiful pictures that we display on our walls. She also had a green thumb and there were always flowers in the garden or pots.

She was the survived by Her sister, Maxine Jackson of AZ, Daughter, Carla Lynch Hazen, Boise, Idaho son, Gary ( Ranae) Witt Wyoming and she was the Grandmother of Wayne  (  Rhonda ) Washington, Jeremy Witt (deceased)  Heather Allen, Wyoming ,Joshua (Aja) Witt Wyoming. Tawnia (Don) Dahmen Nampa, Billy Joe Hazen (Connie) Boise Her Great Grandchildren, Summer Hazen Hill (Brandon), Nikki Senn (Jesyka), Matthew Senn, Chantelle Trembly (Matt Harris), William Trembly. Kaitlyn Hazen, Cole and Trent Allen, Wyoming,Denise (Chris ) Pennar Montana and Dakota Brown ,Colorado. She also leaves behind her 11 wonderful Great, Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers and sisters, One grandchild. She also had many loving and thoughtful nieces and nephews who kept in touch until the end. She would always be grateful for their love and attention. She regarded her family as one of the best blessings in her life and she was well loved.

  She would look around a room with the family and say.       

“Look, this all started with me. “
