Obituary of Bernard George Ament

     Bernard George Ament was born on May 19, 1930 in Bluffton Minnesota to Joseph and Katherine Ament. He was the 5th of 10 children. Bernard lived and attended school in Minneapolis in 1948, then joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. The family moved to Idaho during this time. Bernard moved to Idaho after his discharge. The next several years he worked in mining and logging. Bernard moved back to Minnesota and worked with his brother Walt in refrigeration repair. Bernard moved back to Idaho when his father passed away and stayed with his mother to help her. He worked at St. Luke’s until he retired. Bernard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always had an amazing garden providing vegetables for family and friends. Bernard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was on usher for Saturday Mass for several years. He also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul food bank. During this time he made many good friends. He was a member of Knights of Columbus for many years

     Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Katherine Ament, brothers Herbert, Joseph, James, Richard and sisters Dorthy Qaule and Margret Frey. He is survived by his brother Walter and sisters Adella Knievel, Mary Otto, sister in law Becky Ament and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernard was always there for his family, he was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
