Sharyn Faith Duckworth Bailey, 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 3, 2022, of natural causes. Sharyn was born July 11, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Walter Robinson and Velva Gertrude Duckworth. Sharyn was the youngest of three children born to Walt and Vel. She grew up and attended schools in the mining town of Magna, Utah, where she developed countless enduring friendships. After graduating from Cyprus High in 1957, Sharyn went to work in the accounting department of the regional telephone company. Sharyn married the love of her life, Floyd Gilgen Bailey, on June 23, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and eternity. The couple were married 61 years at the time of Sharyn’s passing.

Sharyn was a follower of Jesus Christ and a living example of His infinite love. She was an active, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she held numerous positions of responsibility and served with joy and love. Sharyn and Floyd were blessed with five rambunctious sons: David, Mark, Scott, Kent, and Jared. Thanks to Floyd’s career with the USDA, the Bailey family lived in numerous rural towns across Utah before eventually settling in Boise, Idaho in June 1977.

Sharyn loved music, singing, baking, reading, playing the piano, and serving her family and friends. She was artistic and skilled – continually crafting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, tole painting, working with ceramics, and scrapbooking. After raising her five sons, Sharyn worked for many years at Made in Idaho, where she happily spent more money on crafts and gifts for others than she ever earned, much to Floyd’s dismay. For many years, Sharyn and Floyd faithfully served as directors of the Boise Family History Center. In her golden years, Sharyn crocheted hundreds of newborn beanies that she gleefully donated each year to local hospitals. Sharyn was a loving mother and welcoming friend to all who crossed her doorstep.

Sharyn is survived by her loving husband Floyd, her devoted sons, David (Carl), Mark, Scott (Tara), Kent (Sara), and Jared (Kirsten), 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who truly adored this great woman. Sharyn is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert and David, numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her foster daughter Verla Lasiloo-Jim. After a life well-lived, Sharyn has returned to the loving embrace of her Creator and cherished loved ones.
