Obituary of MaryAnn Kinkade

MaryAnn Kinkade, proud Boisean and talented gardener and crafter, died in her hometown, on November 7, 2022, just days before her 68th birthday. 

MaryAnn grew up in the North End, just steps from Camel’s Back Park. The foothills and grat outdoors were featured greatly in her childhood. After graduating from Boise High, she worked for the State of Idaho Controller’s office under Joe R. Williams for 38 years. There, she made lifelong friends, eventually retiring as Program Records Manager.

MaryAnn was known for her abundant generosity and big heart. Most who knew her well were recipients of personalized gifts and home cooked meals.  Giving with her time and knowledge, she also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was an active member of the Water Garden and Koi Society. 

Each winter, MaryAnn attended community craft bazaars, often gaining inspiration to organize craft days with her family and friends.  Spring was her favorite time of year because she was able to use her creativity decorating and planting new plants in her garden. In the summer, she pursued Art in the Park, strolling from booth to booth and supporting local artists.

During annual trips to Stanley with her family, MaryAnn enjoyed soaking in the mountain views from the hot spring and sitting on the deck of Redfish Lodge, watching her grandkids play in the lake.

One of MaryAnn’s favorite stories to share was her car was featured during the filming of Bronco Billy, starring Clint Eastwood, filmed in downtown Boise.

MaryAnn will live on through the love she shared with friends and family. She is survived by her son James and his wife, Elva, her daughter, April, three grandkids, Jacob, Jerrin and Frankie, and her sister, Joyce. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Bob and Norma Kinkade. 

A celebration of MaryAnn’s life will be held in the spring.
