Bonnie Butterfield

Obituary of Bonnie LaRae Butterfield

Bonnie LaRae Butterfield, 84, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Thursday January 19, 2023.

Bonnie was born on March 30, 1938 at the Pocatello General Hospital to Donald Glenn and Miriam Elizabeth Steed Hall.

She graduated from San Bernadino High School in 1956 at 18 years old.

Edwin Roy Butterfield was working at Dickman-Marshall Tire Company. His boss, Don Marshall and wire June, being neighbors to Bonnie, were anxious to introduce them. They were married on August 2, 1958, at her parents' home. They had 4 children, Brett D., Kelly Don and Michelle Kae (May 14, 1964) and then adopted Robyn shortly after that.

Don Marshall convinced Eddie and Bonnie and the two boys to move to Boise, Idaho to manage the tire shop in Don's new business in 1966. They lived on Richardson Street. To the delight of their parents, this is when a new little sister, Robyn, was introduced to the family.

Bonnie always loved her family and being around children. She did day care for most of her life and raised so many people's children. Those children brought her joy daily. She loved holidays with them and would do so many things with them to make them happy and smile. She loved to garden, and her home and yard showed it. She had the greenest thumb that could get and keep any plant alive and thriving. The house was filled with them! The yard was a mixture of different colors/types of roses- her favorite, that gave off the most beautiful smells. The funny thing was, as much as she loved roses, they would plug her head up, but she continued to care for them! Camping was a family must yearly and they would go to new places, but always had their favorite places- Stanley, Bull Trout Lake, North Fork of the Weiser and when Robison Bar was closed to recreation, they began camping up the Yankee Fork.

Bonnie is survived by her children- Brett D. (Kim), Kelly Don and Robyn Lynn Butterfield Burns. Her grandchildren, Kathryn Butterfield Martini, Zackare (Christina) Smith, Lynze Burns, Ashley Butterfield (Brian) Allen. her great grandchildren - Kai and Ava Smith, Makenzie and Jonah Martini, Aiden and Avory Allen. Her sister - Connie Hall Borck, Brother Kenny (Caroline) Brokate. Special nieces Niki Fowler (Wilke) and Janae Butterfield Rittmaic. She is also survived by Glenn and Lois Butterfield, Paul and Normandia Butterfield, Hazel A. Walker and Donna and DeMar Gilbert and by many nieces and neohews who all love her!

She was preceded in death by her mother Miriam Steed Hall, parents Donald Glenn and Bernice Turner Hall, husband Edwin R. Butterfield, her daughter Michelle, her brothers Barry and Ronnie Brokate, her sister Diana Hall Fowler, and daughter-in-law Sheree Lyn Rambough Butterfield and Tammy Lynn Butterfield.
