Obituary of Randy Gene Calkins

Randy Gene Calkins (70), of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on February 24th, 2023 after his battle with cancer.

Randy was born to Duane and Joyce Calkins in Boise, Idaho on November 26th, 1952. He was the second eldest brother of 4 children.

Randy grew up in Boise, ID, in the “Shamrock house”. In his youth he would hunt ducks, work odd jobs, and play hard. After graduating high school he joined the Navy and was overseas briefly in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Tanya. Randy and Tanya went on to make a beautiful 47 year marriage together, and
had three amazing children. Randy spent many years of his life in the plumbing trade. Much of that time was spent working for Cloverdale Plumbing, which his father purchased in 1979. In 2006 he started Calkins Plumbing with his youngest son. He helped in the growth and development of the plumbing trade across the Treasure Valley. Randy enjoyed all things outdoors, lots of fishing and golf, hunting and exploring on his side by side with friends and family. He loved helping his parents build the family cabin in Donnelly, ID, and creating countless memories with all of his loved ones there. Many great times, memories and conversations were had at their property in Garden Valley, ID over the last decade. He enjoyed life and was a skilled, hard worker.

Randy was proceeded in death by his parents, Duane H. Calkins and Joyce Lucille Calkins.
Grandson: Coit Edwin Herrick II.

He is survived by his wife Tanya Lucille Calkins. Siblings: Larry Duane Calkins, Kenny Lynn Calkins, Donna Marie McCool. Children: Melissa Sue Calkins, Jason Gene Calkins, William Duane Calkins (Melanie Sue Calkins). Grandchildren: Kennen Randall Knapp, Kobe Elisha Herrick, Dakota Morgan Magnuson, Craig William Calkins, Brendyn Orion Calkins, Lucy Sue Calkins, Aubrie Ann Behrens, Isabella Rose Calkins, Tioc Riot Herrick. Great Grandchildren: Jacob Lawelawe, Aulanna Guzman. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy will forever live in our hearts and memories with his many life lessons ranging from how to tie fishing knots, reel in fish, telling stories, listening to classic country, watching country western movies, how to shoot a gun, his John Wayne collection, beautiful handwriting, his three rules of golf; just to name a few. But most of all his love for his wife, kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. If you ever needed him he was right there for you, no questions asked. He always led with his heart which got him into trouble sometimes. We will carry on with you in our hearts and remember everything that you taught us, and all the times
you shared with us.
