Robert Kerns

Obituary of Robert Steven Kerns

Robert Steven Kerns, 66, of Boise, Idaho led a fun and good life and fast death - but the transition was a bitch!  He didn’t lose his battle with cancer and COPD on March 18, 2023, rather, when he died, so did the illnesses - HE WON!

Rob loved rock music, beer, whiskey, cigarettes, motorcycles, pastrami sandwiches, finger steaks, expensive cologne, Pawn Stars, old westerns, Idaho Spud Bars, Diet Coke and women - but not necessarily in that order! He had many talents throughout his lifetime that included swimming, drumming, drawing, caring for children with disabilities, working security and being a very loyal friend.

He was in the Navy once and to his parents’ delight, discharged honorably.  He was also married once, and had 2 daughters, Vanessa and Jessica (whose middle names he chose for his close friends, Ray and Gene)!

Rob was loved, hated, praised and cursed by friends and family alike - but mostly loved for his generous and huge heart!  After raising hell for over 6 decades, living life on his own terms, spending the day with his family, and enjoying one last pastrami sandwich, he passed away with Bluetooth headphones on, watching Pawn Stars.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Kerns; his daughters, Vanessa (Brandon) Hild, Jessica Herrera; his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Kezia, Allison, Ray and Delilah; his brother, David (Bonnie) Kerns; a niece, Nikki (Dustin) Stevenson; a nephew, Ryan Patxi (Naomi) Kerns; and their children Patxi, Kian, Kepa, Lucas, Maialen, and Molly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Kerns.

Very Special Thanks to Whitney, Edgewood staff and residents,  the V.A. and anyone else who helped in Rob’s comfort and care - he and his family are grateful for every moment you spent with him!

We are considering establishing a Go-Fund-Me account for Burger N Brew (finger steaks), The Idaho Candy Company, Uncle Giusseppes (pastrami sandwiches), and Coca Cola, as we anticipate they are about to experience significant hardships as a result of the loss of Rob’s business.  Please keep them in your thoughts.

Because he didn’t enjoy large crowds, there will not be any services but, we encourage you to celebrate his life, his way -

“Dos cervezas, por favor!”  “¿Dónde está el baño?”
