Elijah Waters

Obituary of Elijah Gregory Waters

Elijah Gregory Waters was born on April 9, 2007 in Fairfield, California.  He brought instant joy into his parents’ lives. He was smart, determined, and full of sunshine and laughter. He was the best big brother to his 3 brothers. He learned so quickly and always had a passion for something. He was a budding entrepreneur and got in trouble at school for selling chocolate and other homemade items to his classmates.

He lived in California for the first 2 years of his life, then moved with his family while his dad went to school, living in Rexburg, Idaho, and then West Lafayette, Indiana, with a short stint in Charlotte, North Carolina for his dad’s internship. After that they moved back to California for a couple of years and Elijah made friends easily and shared his enthusiasm for Minecraft and computers. He was kind to everyone.

After California, Elijah and his family moved to Henderson, Nevada and there he found a passion for remote-controlled cars and made some life-long friends. He was a frequent customer at the hobby shop and they knew him by name. He was always brave and ambitious, and at 12 years old was conversing regularly with adults, whether talking to customer service for some mechanical issue or fixing RC cars for people he met on offer up. He used the local Speedee Mart as his meeting place where people would bring their RC cars for him to fix. He would light up when anyone wanted to talk about or do anything with an RC car. He and his friends had a special spot they called the “mini mountains” where they would ride bikes and be boys. Later his passion transferred to dirt bikes, as he had his first ride on one and was hooked. During this time Elijah was homeschooled and was able to spend time on his hobbies. When he wasn’t tinkering, he was a voracious reader and especially loved the Harry Potter series, any Brandon Mull book, and the Wingfeather Saga.  He learned to fix his dirt bikes as well and showed up his dad with his mechanical skills.

After living in Henderson for 5 years, Elijah’s dad had an opportunity to work in Meridian, Idaho, and his family moved there.

Elijah missed his mechanical buddies he left behind in Nevada, but he did find joy in working on his YouTube channel (MR. Mechanic), where he would show off his long procession of RC cars and dirt bikes that he would buy, fix, and sell. He also made some great new friends. To his great delight, laws in Idaho were such that Elijah could get his permit at 14 and license at 15, and he did not waste time jumping on that. All of his love for mechanics then shifted to cars. Elijah got a job at Chick Fil-A and loved working there. He loved his job and had a smile ready for customers and co-workers alike and was looking forward to becoming a trainer. His job helped pay for two cars he thought were the coolest and he would mechanic on them when he wasn’t working or when his parents weren’t chasing him down to do his school.

Elijah was very active in church and supported his priest quorum in attending activities and blessing the sacrament. He was scheduled to receive his patriarchal blessing the Sunday after his passing. He tried to read his scriptures every night and loved going to seminary. He attended FSY in 2022 and had the time of his life and yearned to go back. He was a valiant and obedient son of God. He loved his family and always jumped at the chance to visit with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. His loss will be felt very deeply every day. Until we meet again sweet Elijah.
