Enoch Charles Hansen, a United States Marine Corp veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and longtime resident of Boise, Idaho passed away on July 10th, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Enoch was born August 13, 1932, to Peter and Lyla Hansen in Firth, Idaho. He graduated from Firth High School in 1950. He worked on the family farm for almost 2 years before starting his 21 and ½ year career in the U.S. Marine Corps on January 16th, 1952. It was during this time he met his first wife, Patsy Crook, and together they had three beautiful children: Carl, Marilyn, and Scott. In 1959, Enoch and Patsy parted ways. Enoch’s service took him to Camp Pendleton in 1960, where he met his second wife, Linda Snellings. The two were wed in Las Vegas on December 1st, 1962, and enjoyed a 61-year marriage. Enoch and Linda completed their family with the birth of their two children, Lisa and Charles.

Enoch was recognized multiple times in his career for his honorable service and sharp eye. He received multiple medals for conduct and valor, and he eventually became a sharpshooter for the Marine Corps Rifle Team in which he participated in competitions across the country. One of his proudest achievements was bringing home a gold medal. His military services took him through all fifty United States and many countries around the world.

After his long military career, Enoch traded one uniform for the next and worked at the United States Postal Service for over 20 years as a mail-handler until he retired. After this retirement he was able to happily snow-bird with Linda in Wellton, Arizona every year to escape the winters in Idaho.

Enoch was a devoted family man and loved nothing more than his family.  He did not miss any family reunions or special occasions unless either he or Linda were sick. He loved spending time with his grandchildren as much as possible. When not spending time with the family, he enjoyed being an active member of the Marine Corp League and volunteering out at the coffee wagon where he met people from all over the world.

Enoch loved the outdoors with hunting and camping being his favorite activities closely followed by playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage, dominoes and even a rousing game of Yahtzee.

Enoch was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, parents, and all 7 siblings. He is survived by his children Carl, Marilyn, Scott, Lisa, and Charles as well as nine grandchildren. His family has organized a viewing which will be held at Summers Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Friday, July 28th followed by a full military honors burial at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, at his request,  donations can be made to Shriner’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
