Obituary of Patricia Franden

Patricia Mae Franden (91) of Eagle, ID, passed away peacefully of natural causes August 1, 2023. Patricia was born on November 13, 1931 to Genevieve and Wilbur Stroud in Boise, ID. She was born into a large family and was the sixth of seven children.

Patty married William Wennstrom in 1950 and welcomed their first child, Thomas and a few years later their daughter, Ann. After the birth of her children, Patty pursued Secretarial Studies at Link's School of Business. She then began her working career as a secretary for various governmental agencies including the Idaho Air National Guard, Senator James McClure and culminating in a position as secretary for Gov. Don Samuelson.

William and Patty divorced in 1968 and she married Jack Franden in 1970.

Patty and Jack enjoyed their life together and had the opportunity to live in Medford, OR and then Kailua, Hawaii. In Hawaii, the couple took advantage of many recreational perks including golf; she even shot a hole in one, of which she was very proud.

They returned to Boise, ID to be nearer to family. They enjoyed entertaining guests at their backyard pool, and she loved serving fruits and veggies from her bountiful garden. Patty was very involved in her bridge club and took enormous pride in her achievement of Life Master.

Patty was able to travel several times to Europe with friends. She loved sharing tales of her adventures with her family. In particular, she was very fond of her time in Spain, Portugal and Italy.

In her later years, she was an avid NASCAR and Seattle Seahawks fan. Patty loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband, a grandson and a granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Tom (Joan) Wennstrom, Ann (Randy) Frisbee, 3 granddaughters, 4 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at Edgewood Spring Creek at Eagle Island and All Care Hospice for their compassion and care for the last year.
