Dale Fackler

Obituary of Dale James Fackler

Dale James Fackler, age 81, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away with his wife Irena, September 4, 2023, outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Dale was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on December 28, 1941, but lived all his early life in Boise, Idaho where he attended Collister Elementary School, South Jr. High School, and Boise High School. He joined the US Army in July 1959, and served various assignments in the United States and overseas, eventually achieving the rank of Sergeant before injuries in 1960 and 1961 led to his discharge from active duty in August 1962. After his release from active duty, he came under the care of the Boise Veterans Administration. He was able to recover from his injuries to the point of joining the active Army Reserve with hopes of returning to active duty. Things did not work out as planned and his association with the military ended in July 1965.

With the passage of the GI Bill in 1966 Dale attended Boise College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

After Graduation from Boise College, Dale was employed by Morrison-Knudsen Company and served various administrative assignments in MK’s Boise home office and on construction projects in Montana, California, Nevada, Alaska, Florida, Panama, Suriname, Kwajalein Atoll, and Taiwan. After 23 years with MK, Dale accepted positions with ICF Kaiser and CH2M Hill which took him on assignments to Saudi Arabia, Africa, Taiwan, Mainland China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and the Czech Republic where he served as Branch Manager of the European subsidiary of Kaiser Group Holdings until the end of his full-time working career in 2001.

In 1995, while on assignment in the Czech Republic, Dale met the love of his life, Irena. Six months after meeting they married in Prague on February 16, 1996. Dale described her as his grey haired, blue eyed technical translator and office manager. They became constant partners, seldom being apart from each other for any length of time. Dale loved to talk about Irena’s accomplishments in life, but at the same time he would not miss the opportunity to tease her whenever possible. Dale spoke of her as the driving force in his life and cherished every moment they spent together.

In 2001 they returned to the US, settling in Eagle, ID where they continued to serve as consultants for KGI in the settlement of various contract claims and arbitration issues. Living a semi-retired life as part-time consultants, Dale and Irena found time to devote to their love for the Boise State Broncos and, with Irena at his side, the two were avid fans and supporters of BSU athletics and other on campus programs. Both Dale and Irena became lifetime members of the Alumni Association and the Chaffee Guild at BSU.

Having both traveled and worked on various assignments around the world they settled into their home in Eagle and enjoyed the quiet of their patio, the fun of their swimming pool, their hobbies and occasional trips back to Prague to visit the kids or having the kids come from Prague to visit Eagle.

Dale and his beautiful wife, Irena, the love of his life, left this earth together on September 4, 2023. Dale was preceded in death by his mother LuDean Reed and stepfather George Reed, father James Fackler and stepmother Ruth Fackler, sisters Sharon Berger, Dorothy Hugg and Lana Meeks, son James Fackler, grandson Franklin Tackett and great grandson Raidon Fackler.

He leaves behind his brother David Fackler (Dena) of Tempe, AZ, daughter Denie Tackett, grandsons Shawn Tackett and James Tackett of Boise, grandson Joshua Fackler, daughter-in-law Jana Cakurdova, son-in-law Roman Cakurda, grandson Hugo Cakurda and his only granddaughter Marie Ema Cakurdova of Prague, Czech Republic.
