Irena Facklerova

Obituary of Irena Facklerova

Irena Facklerova, age 77, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away with her husband, on September 4, 2023, outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Irena was born in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic on March 20, 1946, and at the age of four moved with her family to Prague. She attended school in Prague, eventually becoming one of the first two women to graduate from the School for International Affairs, a previously male only institution.

After graduation from the School of International Affairs in 1964, Irena was employed by Investa. An export organization dealing with export of textile machinery manufactured in the Czech Republic. Irena’s work required her administrative support/supervision of fitting crews sent to install machine components in textile factories in Spain, England, United States, Ireland, France, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Russia.

In 1967, Irena married and two years later gave birth to her daughter, Jana. That marriage ended and Irena continued with her life pursuit of happiness while having to deal with the restraints placed upon a single mother living and working under a Communist regime.

In 1990, Irena joined National Patent Development Trading (NPDT), a US based company with offices in Prague. With NPDT, Irena continued her involvement with various international companies in support of their business dealings within the Czech Republic. While still employed by NPDT in September of 1995, Irena provided technical translations services during contract negotiations for Kaiser Group International (KGI), a company bidding on the construction of a steel mill in Ostrava, Czech Republic. During the contact negotiations, Irena met Dale Fackler, a representative of KGI.

Irena and Dale found time in their busy schedules to enjoy each other’s company and fell in love. They married in February 1996 and Irena became Dale’s office manager during the construction of the same steel rolling mill for which she had provided translation services during contract negotiations. When the steel mill project became operational, Irena and Dale assumed consulting role with KGI and then moved to Eagle, Idaho in 2001 to set up their home.

Their consulting work continued for several years before they were finally able to settle into their retirement, which they had both worked towards for many years. In retirement, Irena rapidly adapted to the American style of living, received her US citizenship, and accomplished the dream of having a fine home, good neighbors, working in her garden, enjoying her swimming pool, going to Boise State Bronco football games, attending theatrical

performances, and returning to Prague on an annual basis to spend a few months each year with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Irena and her handsome husband, Dale, the love of her life, left this earth together on September 4, 2023. Irena was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ludmilla Trachtova and Josef Trachta, her brother Pavel Trachta of Prague, Czech Republic, step-grandson Franklin Tackett of Boise, Idaho, and stepson James Fackler of Cocoa, Florida.

She is survived by her daughter Jana Cakurdova, son-in-law Roman Cakurda, grandson Hugo Cakurda and granddaughter Marie Ema Cakurdova, also of Prague, Czech Republic, brother-in-law David Fackler (Dena) of Tempe, AZ, stepdaughter Denie Tackett of Boise, ID, and step-grandsons Shawn Tackett and James Tacket of Boise, ID and step-great grandson Joshua Fackler of Cocoa, Florida, several nieces and nephews and a community of close friends who will all miss her dearly.

Funeral Arrangements have been made with Summers Funeral Home of Meridian, ID. Graveside services will be held at the Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise, ID at 1pm on September 20, 2023.
