Obituary of Joseph P Wieber

Jay was born to Joseph P. Wieber and Phyllis Wieber, Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

When the family moved to a small town on the Mesabi Iron Range for his father to continue his association with the Shell Oil Company, Jay in his early years learned to deal with Minnesota winters. Then a move to Missoula, MT, on the journey to Missoula, he wondered where the Cowboys and Indians were, and then a final move to Spokane, WA.

Jay attended Columbia Preparatory, High School in Portland, OR as a live-in boarding student. He graduated in 1952 from Gonzaga Preparatory High School in Spokane, WA.

Jay joined the Washington State Air National Guard and spent ten years as a Medic, finishing as a Staff Sergeant.

Jay received a Bachelor degree from Eastern Washington State Collage and obtained his Washington State Casualty and Life Insurance license. While with Farmers Insurance a little gal named Bobbie showed up with a fender bender accident and captured his heart. However, long distance dating, different colleges and careers, they gradually drew apart. After Jay graduated from college, he married and was eventually divorced. As fate would have it, after 20 years he and Bobbie, rediscovered each other and were married.

At about age 20, he received both Idaho and Washington State real estate licenses to continue in his fathers' footsteps as a realtor and property manager. While involved in subdivision sales at Hayden Lake, Idaho, he purchased waterfront land and built his home.

Next was getting a Federal Investment and Securities License to handle sales of stocks and mutual funds.

As a young single guy, he owned two Austin Healey sport cars and then purchased what he would call his "claim to fame", - a 1956 Mercedes Benz Gull Wing Coupe. During this time he was elected to be President of the Sports Car Club of Spokane which in turn, led him to be elected for 5 years President of the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs for states of Washington, Idaho and British Columbia. He would spend 50% of the weekends at meetings or various race tracks.

In his work as a Real Estate Property Manager, he was elected to the Presidency of the Inland Empire Apartment Association and then for the entire Washington State Apartment Association.

Jay is survived by his four adopted children from his first marriage, his wife Roberta, and his sister Elsa Wieber Ceder.
