Obituary of Betty L. Plackett

Betty Louise Plackett, 92, of Meridian, Idaho passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Graveside service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meridian Cemetery.

Betty was born on February 27, 1931in Pea Ridge, Arkansas to Sterling and Emma Nita Patterson. She was from a large family of nine kids; Betty was child number eight. She loved to tell stories of growing up with her siblings. After graduating high school, she was a telephone operator for several years in Rogers, Arkansas and then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho to continue her career. Betty met the love of her life, Earl Plackett, while working for the telephone company in Twin Falls. They were married December 31, 1959. Betty and Earl had one daughter, Karen. Betty quit working and became a stay-at-home mom soon after.

Betty loved cooking and made the most wonderful cookies and piesl She was a wonderful grandma to her two grandsons. She and Earl loved to have them overnight and would let them climb trees, rake and jump in leaves, have snowball fights, build indoor forts, read stories and fix snacks and special treats.

She looked forward to spending holidays with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Craig Rhom. Her grandchildren, Patrick Rhom, Eric and Kinsey Rhom and her sister, Joy Gabbard.
