Obituary of Dolores Mae Rowland

Our loving Mother and Grandmother, Dolores Mae Rowland passed away on June 4, 2023.

Dolores was born in Pocatello, ID on January 5, 1924. She was the daughter of Charles Donat and Ethel Mae Bachelor Donat.

Dolores was a 1942 graduate of Nampa High School. She attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado majoring in music. She was a life member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and the Jobs Daughters.

Dolores married William R. Rowland on July 9, 1943 in Nampa, ID

Dolores was employed by the Idaho Statesman Newspaper for over 30 years. Previous to that she worked for the Nampa Free Press.

Dolores loved her music. She provided many vocals for weddings and funerals, as well as vocal teaching. Reading was her true love. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and playing Bridge.

Some of Mothers best memories were spending many a summer at Redfish Lake in Idaho. The memories we shared at Redfish are some of the best in our lives. Then she and dad built a cabin in Cascade, ID. Lots of fun was had by all building the cabin and spending a lot of time there partying and fishing. Her favorite part of her weekend was cooking all the perch we would catch.

Dolores lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed entertaining with friends and family. Her children and grandchildren meant the most to her.

After retiring, Dolores and Bill loved traveling. They would winter in Lake Havasu, AZ and lived their summers in Cascade, ID. They also spent many years traveling the country.

Death precedents were her parents, Charles and Mae Donat, infant brother William Donat and husband, Bill Rowland.

Dolores is survived by her children; Michael (Linda) Rowland, Michele (Arthur) Galus and Mary Schroeder., seven grandchildren; Tammy (Bobby) Hendricks, Len Galus, Nadine Galus, Phil Rowland, Angela (Chad) Tiffany, Katie Wennstrom and Lisa (Rich) Bearg; 10 great grandchildren and her brother, John Donat.

She spent her final 20 years living in Oshkosh, WI after Mary moved to Wisconsin. She made many friends at her apartment complex. They all enjoyed her company, quick wit, laughter and her beautiful smile. Mary was so fortunate to have all those wonderful years learning about her mother. She wouldn’t have had the opportunity to hear and cherish if Dolores hadn’t made the move.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Thank you for the memories, Mother. We love you and will miss you.
