Obituary of Jerauld William Manter

Jerauld (Jerry) Manter

October 23, 2023

Ocala, Florida - Jerauld William Manter, 72, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his sleep Oct. 23, 2023.

Jerry (as he was lovingly known) was born in April 1951 to Stanley and Jean Manter. Growing up in Storrs, Conn., he had an idealistic childhood, graduating from E.O. Smith High School, class of 1969.

While serving in the United States Air Force, he met his first wife, Patricia LeBlanc, in Phoenix, Ariz. His military career ended honorably at Mountain Home Air Force Base (Idaho) and Jerry and Pat settled in Boise to start a family.

He graduated from Boise State University in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. This led him to spend much of his career as a customer service specialist.

After retiring in 2016, Jerry enjoyed his life with his wife, Michele Ouellette, of 19 years. Their passions included family, traveling, fun breakfast spots, and restoration of his father's 1937 Buick and his 1967 CL77 Honda motorcycle he had in high school. Jerry was a member of Vintage Gems Car Club in Boise as well as On Top of the Wheels Car Club in Ocala. After a few years, he and Michele traveled full-time by RV until central Florida called them home.

Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Jean Manter. He is survived by his wife Michele Ouellette, sister Bette (Alan), his three children, Karen Nicole (Vladimir), Jerry Robert (Maren), and David Stanley, in addition to four grandchildren.

He also had three stepchildren, Sean Hamon (Elissa), Rebecca-Dawn Price (Scott), and Melanie Hamon (Chris), and four step-grandchildren.

Jerry had many titles in his life, but he treasured being a spouse, father, and friend. No matter what he was doing, he was always a phone call away.

A gathering of family and friends with 60's music was one of Jerrys final wishes. The family will receive visitors November 17th from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm at Summers Funeral, 3629 E. Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646. At 2:00 pm, a Military Funeral Honors at the committal shelter, Idaho State Veterans Cemetery adjacent to Dry Creek Cemetery, 10200 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise ID 83714
