Obituary of Jerry W. Foster
Jerry Foster of Meridian, Idaho passed away on November 26, 2023, at home with his loving family at his side, following an extended illness.
He was born on October 6, 1939, in Faulkton, South Dakota to Wayne and Fannie Mae Foster. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; and is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brother Richard (Sally), nephew Brian, and cousins.
Jerry’s family made several moves, until settling in Nampa, Idaho. He attended the first five years of his schooling in a one-room school in Rockham, South Dakota with four other students, including his brother Richard. After the family moved to Nampa, Jerry attended Lakeview Grade School, Central Junior High, and Nampa High School. He attended Boise State University for two years.
Jerry married Shirley in 1961, and they had a really good marriage. “Tweetie” was always his affectionate name for her. They had two children, Diane (1963) and Gary (1965). He loved his children and was so proud of them. They have four grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Anderson, Lindsay (Andy) Belo, and Andrew and Brandon Foster; and five great grandchildren, Ryah, Noah, and Micaiah Anderson, and Zander and Zane Belo.
Jerry was a union electrician for many years. During this time, he worked on many projects in the area as a journeyman estimator and general foreman. He worked for Electric Service Company for 36 years with a great boss, Gene Friend. He also spent fun times with his best friend, Keith Day, throughout his school years and life. They enjoyed reminiscing about the past.
Jerry enjoyed many activities. He spent many camping trips with is family and friends in his beloved mountains of Idaho. He was a backpacker and fisherman, and enjoyed riding motorcycles and ATVs. After retiring, he spent many hours carving totem poles. He enjoyed watching Boise State football games on television, and didn’t miss many of them.
Jerry loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and God blessed him so much. He was a member of Central Valley Baptist Church. His dying wish was for people to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior so that he would spend eternity with them.
Jerry and Shirley’s life saying was: We didn’t have it all together . . . but together with Jesus, we had it all.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
