Charles Bernard Vanderzee, 72, of Meridian, ID, passed away on February 20, 2024.

Charlie was born on July 6th, 1951 to John and Christine Vanderzee in Artesia, California. After graduating from Valley Christian High School in 1969 he became a brick mason and soon married his highschool sweetheart Dena (Kingma) in 1971.  In 1977 they moved to Idaho to start a dairy farm. He had careers in the agricultural and construction industries until an early retirement in 2011 due to a cancer diagnosis.

Charlie and Dena were married for 52 years and had two children, Jon and Amanda. Charlie enjoyed golfing, fishing on the lake, playing card games, spending time with friends and family and spoiling his two grandchildren.

Charlie will be remembered for his sense of humor, his contagious laugh and his great big bear hugs. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, dad and g-pa, and will miss him every day.

Charlie is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Johnny. He is survived by his wife, Dena; his two children, Jon Vanderzee and Amanda (Eric) Smith;  his two grandchildren, Charles and Cannon Smith; and his sisters, Shirley (Ray) Van Der Hoek, Tootie (Henry) Van Dyk, Debbie (Gerald) Van Gessel, and Bonnie (John) Peat.
