to Alton:
I only had a brief encounter with your father on the Owyhee River earlier this summer. From reading his life history, he had a full life of fly fishing at my favorite places. I was sorry to read of his passing.
Sincerely,
Bill Nelson

To Bobs family,
I offer my heartfelt condolences during your time of loss.
I have had the honor of spending a little quality time fly fishing with Bob in his latter years. Yes, he really was an amazing fly fisherman. As enjoyable as that was, my fondest memories come from sipping a cup of coffee over breakfast and listening to him tells stories about his time spent at Henrys lake in his youth. What amazing experiences!
Bob was an extremely kind and giving person. I have a fly box full of his famous Elk Hair Caddis’s that he exclusively used with great success, to trick the trout of the Owyhee river. While I am inclined to keep them in their box out of reverence, I know that Bob would want me to use them. When I do, I will remember him fondly. He will be missed but not forgotten.
