Obituary
Obituary of Patricia Flannery
The story of Patricia (Patsy) Flannery began on July 27, 1926 when
she was born to George and Marion Fitzgerald in Chicago Illinois.
Although she died this past Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Boise, Idaho,
you can bet her story will continue.
For Patsy, helping other people was like breathing. For her, it was
completely automatic. During her 86 plus years, she helped countless
people across the country. She taught children in Spanish Harlem
NY, cared for hospital patients in Cincinnati OH, and raised money for
college scholarships at Xavier University. After moving to Boise in
1985 with her husband Robert she volunteered at The Elks
Rehabilitation Center, St John's Food Bank, The Boise Philharmonic,
and the Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2001.
Patsy died because it was her turn to go to heaven and join her
husband Robert E. Flannery, her oldest daughter Mary Flannery and
her younger sister Joan Lavezzorio who, along with a legion of
friends, have been waiting for her patiently.
From her new position, Patsy will continue to watch over her sister
Virginia O'Connor of Portland OR., her six children, Ann Flannery of
Twin Falls ID., Brigid Flannery of Eugene OR., Robert Flannery of
Boise ID., Patrick Flannery and his wife June of Boise ID. Michael
Flannery and his wife Stacy, of Cincinnati, OH. and Celia Schloemer
and her husband Greg of Cheviot OH.; as well as, her nine
Grandchildren: Caitlyn, & Rebekah Flannery, Clare, Luke, Mary
Patricia, & Ellen Schloemer, and Grace, Noah, & Brigid Flannery; not
to mention her 25 nieces and nephews.
Friends can call on the family Wednesday January 23, 2013 at Summers
Funeral Home's Boise Chapel beginning at 5:00pm. Vigil Services
and Rosary will follow at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be
celebrated the following morning: 10:30am Thursday, Jan 24, 2013 at St
John's Cathedral. The service will have an interpreter present that will be
signing for the hearing impaired. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that friends
bring canned goods, non-perishable food items, and/or nonperishable
monetary donations for St John's Food Bank. Her children
would like you to never forget, "What happens at Nana's stays at
Nana's", "There's always room for one more at our table." And of
course, "If you had your shoes on that wouldn't happen."
