Obituary of Cloyd Carringer

Glen, a member of the Greatest Generation, passed into his eternal rest at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise, Idaho. He was born to Joseph Wesley Cloyd Carringer and Lucretia Maud Lawrence Carringer at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. Glen was a descendent of the Lawrence family which settled in Boise in 1864. His early years were spent on ranches in the Hammett and Bennett Mountain areas of southern Idaho and in Boise. While working for the CCC at the Anderson Ranch dam site in 1942, he received his draft notice and went to serve as a tail gunner in a B24 flying out of Tunisia over Italy. Glen and his wife, Gail Morgan Carringer, married on July 9, 1950 at her parents' home in Boise. They spent the first two years of their marriage at Valdosta, GA, returning to Boise via Victorville, CA. Once in Boise, he pursued a career with the Idaho Air National Guard of which he was an original member. He spent 34 years at Gowen Field as a mechanic and retired in 1981. Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gail; his three children and their spouses, Susan and Mike Stubblefield, Rick and Shanna Carringer, and David and Dixie Carringer. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Red Rock Christian Church, 1124 S. Roosevelt, Boise on Saturday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Summers Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
