Obituary of Margaret Bartlett

Margaret of Boise passed away on September 20, 212. She passed away a month shy of her 93rd birthday. Margaret was born October 29, 1919 in Spickard, Missouri to John De Volld and Merle Young De Volld. She was educated at Green City High School in Green City, Missouri and graduated in 1936, two years ahead of time as she skipped two grades in elementary school. Marge played a variety of sports and excelled despite per petite 5'3" frame. In 1941, she moved to Kansas City and worked as a secretary for National Hess to put herself through nursing school. During this time she continued to correspond with her high school sweetheart. Marge and Delbert were married Sunday 1943 before he shipped out again for World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Marge was an only child and upon marrying Del, she gained 11 brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly. Del built a beautiful home for Marge in Lakeside, California where they lived for several years before moving to El Cajon. They were active in the Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Teachers. Marge was a soloist in the choir. Both enjoyed square dancing and the many places it took them. Marge took great pride in keeping a model home; she would decorate for the seasons and often entertained. Her favorite past times were reading, listening to music and writing poetry. She also enjoyed American and family history. Marge was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pioneer Chapter of Boise. Throughout the years Marge made many true friends, her greatest friendship has been with Vacie Nowels starting when they were both 12. Another lifelong friend was Eileen McCoy McCully, they were roommates in Kansas City. In 1990, Del and Marge relocated to Boise to be near their only child Margaret Ann and her family. Their only grandchild, Courtney will lovingly remember her Grandmother for always writing special poems to her on special occasions, birthdays and other holidays. Del passed away in 2004 and Marge spent the last 9 years at Brookdale Senior Living. She enjoyed her time there and the good care provided by the staff. Marge is survived by her daughter Margaret Ann and her husband Pat Hurley and their daughter Courtney of Boise. The family thanks the ICU doctors and nursing staff at St. Luke's Hospital. A viewing will be held at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise at 5:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, September 25, 2012.
