Obituary of Leona Funkhouser

Leona (Lee) died peacefully in her bed on Monday, June 18, 2012 in Boise, Idaho at the age of eighty eight. She went with grace and dignity just as she lived her life. Her early years were spent in Reno, Nevada where she met and married the love of her life, Preston L. Funkhouser, Jr. who predeceased her. They had 58 wonderful years together. Her main goal in life was to support him in his profession and to be a mother. She made a home wherever his job took him. She was an avid bridge player, bowler, golfer and was very active in many civic activities. In her 80's she was the ringer for her Bocci team. Her talent was boundless when it came to a sewing machine. She was a twenty one year survivor of breast cancer. Leona was an inspiration and role model that at the time we may not have appreciated. She will be missed by all those lives she touched. She is survived by her two sons, Preston Funkhouser III and wife Charlene of Clearwater, Idaho, Gary Funkhouser, Sr. and wife Sandra of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Teri Malkin of Rio Vista, California; one sister, Dorothy Bailey of Modesto, CA; three granddaughters, three grandsons, five great granddaughters, three great grandsons and two great great grandsons. A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Masonic Cemetery, Reno, Nevada at a future date where she will finally be with reunited her husband.
