Obituary of Jennie Zitlau

Jennie F. Linville Zitlau 1921 ~ 2012 Jennie F. Linville Zitlau, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at a Boise care center. Jennie was born January 29, 1921 in Ashton, Idaho to Elijah and Mary Ann Pope Linville. She grew up on the Linville family homestead in Swan Valley, Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1940. She married Harry A. Zitlau on December 21, 1947 in Idaho Falls and they lived there until moving to Boise in 1969. Jennie worked for the State Liquor Dispensary until retiring in 1983. Jennie loved bowling, traveling, and growing beautiful roses, irises, and raspberries. She bowled for 52 years and was sad to give up her bowling at age 89. She was proud to have traveled all 50 states with Harry. Over the years she cared for and loved many stray cats; Abigail, Bunny Hop, Daisy Mae, Boyd, Grandpa, Ida Mae and Bobbie Lee, just to name a few. She was a lifetime active member in the American Legion Auxiliary and the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League). Jennie and Harry were part of the founding members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Boise. She always referred to her friends at Beautiful Savior as her "church family". Jennie is survived by her daughter, Connie, daughter-in-law Sharon, and granddaughter Tina Zitlau, all of Boise. Also, grandson Jess and great grandson Ryder Zitlau of Corvallis, Oregon, sister-in-law Lena McCabe Wiese of Rigby, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, five older brothers, husband Harry of 47 years, sons Gary and Kirk Zitlau. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mom's loving and wonderful caregivers at Hillcrest Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Just Strays or your favorite charity. A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise, Idaho. The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14th also at Summers Funeral Homes in Boise. Internment services will be held at Little Butte Cemetery in Idaho Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15th.
