Obituary of Margarite Wolter

Margarite M. Wolter our devoted mother, 79, passed away at home surrounded by her children on November 29, 2011. She courageously battled cancer for two years and now joins her husband, George P. Wolter, Jr. who passed away on September 29, 2011. Margarite was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 27, 1932 to Herman D. and Mary C. Mohr. Growing up in Kansas City, Margarite and her sister, Catherine had a wonderful childhood. She attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, Kansas graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English and Business. Margarite married George P. Wolter, Jr. on November 5, 1960. They lived in Kansas, Wyoming and Idaho. She was a beloved wife, proud mother of eight children and grandmother of twelve. Margarite was an inspiration to many. She valued her Catholic faith and family above all else. Those who were privileged to know Margarite knew her persistence and work ethic. She loved spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, playing card games and tending to the fruits of her garden. She lived life fully and we will miss her deeply. She is survived by her eight children Kathleen, Carolyn (Stephen Prater), Mary (Rick Salocker), George (Samantha), John (Maja), Thomas (Maria), David (Julie) and Daniel (Jennifer); grandchildren Caitlin, Ryan, Megan Prater; Maric Salocker; George IV, Rachel, Annie Wolter; Madeline and Nicholas Wolter, Benjamin Wolter; James and Charles Wolter; her sister, Catherine (Truman) Abram, sister-in-law Mary Ann (John) Reinhardt and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Our thanks to all those who cared for Mom and our family, the many friends, physicians, nurses and caregivers. Visitation will be December 2, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 6:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 3, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Sacred Heart Catholic School and Bishop Kelly High School.
