Maria Pilar (Elorriaga) Tucker was born July 6, 1920 in Jordan Valley, Oregon to Ambrose Elorriaga and Maria (Goicoechea) Elorriaga. She died November 17, 2011 in Emmett, Idaho at the home of her caregiver, Christine Thompson. She was raised in Jordan Valley where she graduated from high school. Pilar also graduated from beauty school. She lived with her mother where she helped run the boarding house and where she also ran a beauty shop. After her mother's death, Pilar married John T. Tucker on July 20, 1963. John and Pilar lived in Jordan Valley for 10 years and moved permanently to Garden Valley, Idaho in 1975. Pilar loved people of all ages and loved to have company. Her niece Sharon spent several summers with her. She loved music up to the end of her life and played the accordion and piano. Pilar loved making things and always had some craft project in progress. John and Pilar also enjoyed their trips to Jackpot together and where she was most often very lucky. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters and a nephew. She is survived by her husband, John Tucker of Garden Valley; her brother, John Elorriaga and his wife Lois of Portland, Oregon; and nieces and nephews. The last few years of Pilar's life were not easy ones, but she faced each day with a smile. She brought much joy to those around her.
