Obituary of David Butts

David Wesley Butts died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise surrounded by his family and friends. David lived an honest and straightforward life and was truly loved by those who knew him. David was born on April 6, 1947, in Sacramento, Calif., the son of Margaret Wells and McKinley William Butts. He graduated from Humboldt High School in Winnemucca, Nev., and moved to Boise to attend Links Community College. There he met and married Phronsie Raines in 1967 and together they had two children. In 1979, David moved back to his hometown of Winnemucca, Nev., and married Patricia Touchstone in 1982. They were happily married for 29 years. David considered himself truly blessed to have found Trish and loved her with his heart and soul. David loved all sports dearly and had an uncanny memory for statistics and trivia. Many afternoons were spent on the golf course or watching one of his favorite teams. David retired in 2007 from a long career in sales. He most enjoyed his time spent in the later years of his work with the Model T Casino in Winnemucca. David was a conscientious and diligent worker who was respected and liked by all who met him. In recent years, David moved back to Boise and became a proud member of the congregation of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. He greatly enjoyed the service efforts that he engaged in and had great affection for the friendships he made at the church. David was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Todd (Marcy) Butts and Michele "Missy" (Michael) Bartlett; his sisters, Karen (Jack) Burrell and Trina (Tim) Rajsich; his grandchildren, Joshua, Tristan, Benjamin, William and Madeline; his nieces Samantha (Todd) and Audra; his nephews Adam (Sherrie) and Kyle (Kate) and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to send out a special thank you to the medical teams of St. Luke's Hospital and DaVita Dialysis Center for the special attention and care they paid to David in recent months. Words cannot explain how much David is loved and how much he will truly be missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 2206 N. Cole Road in Boise, Idaho. A celebration reception will follow the service at the Hidden Springs Clubhouse at 5525 W. Hidden Springs Drive in Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Davis Education Fund, St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 2206 N. Cole Road, Boise, ID 83704.
