Obituary of Ruth East

Ruth Eleanor East, 95 of Boise, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Ruth was born January 15, 1916 in Downers Grove, Illinois to Charles and Emma Reese. Ruth grew up during the depression with her five siblings. At the age of 12, she began preparing meals for her family and later in life became the most wonderful cook! As a kid she loved playing baseball and was always fascinated with animals and nature. Ruth graduated from high school and later worked as a grocery clerk for Jewel Foods. This is where she met her future husband Glen Lincoln East. Glen and Ruth were married on September 14, 1940. Two years later, Ruth gave birth to their daughter, Susan Gail East. Glen and Ruth were devout Christians and faithful members of Whitney Baptist Church. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and worked part time cleaning homes. She also worked at the school cafeteria at Hawthorne Elementary. Ruth spent a tremendous amount of time helping raise her two granddaughters Wendy and Lorie. She was a huge influence in their lives and helped bring them to Christ. Wendy and Lorie feel blessed to have had such a wonderful grandmother. Our lives have been forever touched by her love and she will be missed dearly. Ruth is survived by: her daughter Susan Merritt, granddaughters Wendy Page and Lorie Cover, their husbands, Chris Page and Todd Cover; three great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter plus a blended family of many other children. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Whitney Baptist Church, 2309 Dorian, Boise, Idaho. There will be a reception following the services and friends are also invited to attend graveside services at Cloverdale Cemetery's Terrace Lawns.
