Obituary of Glen Myers

Gary David Myers was born June 2, 1955 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho to Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Myers. He passed into his next life on November 1, 2011 at his home in Boise. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Myers; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is survived by his mother, Genevieve "Ann" Myers of Boise; sister, Sandy (Ted) Esquibel of Pueblo, Colorado; and brother, Robert H. (Susi) Myers, Jr. of Los Alamitos, California. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Christy (Angelo) Belore, Ted (Cindi) Esquibel, Amanda Andrews, Maggie (Peter) Scoffin, Madison Myers; his great nieces and nephews: Austin and Hunter Belore, Brekin and Mackenzie Andrews, and Talynn Scoffin; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Growing up, Dave was active in Bantam football, Old Timers Baseball, and a local softball league during his grade school years in Pueblo, Colorado. After the family moved, he took part in gymnastics and wrestling first at Cherry Creek Jr. High in Denver, Colorado, then at Fairmont Jr. High in Boise, and Capital High in Boise. He received medals and ribbons in those sports. Dave graduated from Capital High School in 1973 and attended a year at BSU before the family transferred to Omaha, Nebraska. While in Omaha, he attended Omaha Community College while working for Skaggs Drug. Dave was a brilliant, gifted, and forward thinking individual with a thirst for knowledge that ended with his untimely death. He made study of the Bible, math, and electricity his life's work. He was a prolific writer of short stories and family history, hoping to be published one day. Dave was a member of AMI, and a member of the Boise AMI Chapter that appeared before the Governor, successfully petitioning and achieving the declaration of a National Mental Health Month for the State of Idaho. Mental health issues played a large part in most of Dave's late teen and adult life. He was active in mental health support groups and mental health issues. Dave was a graduate of Toastmasters and had achieved his pin. Quite an accomplishment for a real introvert! Between family job transfers and vacations, Dave was quite an accomplished traveler. Dave will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was loved and adored especially by his nephews and nieces, and he loved and adored them all in return. Funeral services will be Friday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. A viewing will also be held Friday, November 11th beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Patient Travel Fund c/o El Korah Shrine Temple, P.O.
