Obituary of Larry Pitts

Larry Eugene Pitts died on Thursday, October 13, 2011 surrounded by his family after courageously fighting cancer for 7 years. Larry was born at home in Seattle, Washington, February 27, 1936, the second of four boys of Ron and Violet Pitts. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1959, but the Army called and he was drafted in 1960 and served in Germany for two years. In October 1959, Larry married Doris "Dody" Barnett in Seattle. Together they had two children, Brent and Kelly and were proud to bring Robert, Doris's brother into their family as one of their own. Larry spent many years as an accountant and controller in the car business. He retired from Bronco Motors in 2004. Larry excelled in many sports in his youth lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. However, it was golf that captured his attention later in life. He and Dody loved to travel together to warm places to golf and relax. He was a quiet man by nature who had an inner strength and integrity that we all admired. He was one of those great men that had immense love for his family and friends, maintained strong beliefs and principles, but had great compassion and acceptance for others. This is what drew so many people to him. Larry, you leave behind so many dear friends and golf cronies. One of Larry's greatest joys was spending time with his family especially in celebration of birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Your family will treasure those memories and will miss you dearly. Larry is survived by his wife Doris, his children and their spouses Brent & Andi, Kelly & Michael and Robert & Pam; his four grandchildren: Connor, Noah, Ethan and Lauren; and three brothers, Ron, Jerry and Tim. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family is immensely grateful to the staff at MSTI Meridian and Boise, and the St. Luke's staff in 4 South and in the CCU for the kindness and loving care you gave Larry. A celebration of his life will take place in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to ANSER Public Charter School, from which Larry proudly had his four grandchildren graduate. Cremation arrangements are through Summers Funeral Homes.
