Obituary of James Rexroad

Jim was born Aug. 31, 1953 to Marie I. and Donald L. Rexroad in Boise, ID. He lived most of his life in Boise until his death Sept. 30, 2011. Jim graduated from Borah High School in 1972 after which he served in the Navy until 1978. During that time he spent time on the USS Pluck, USS Bonefish and the USS Abraham Lincoln as an internal communications specialist. Jim returned to Boise after his honorable discharge where he held jobs selling vacuum cleaners and as an electrician at Fireball Trailer. Jim then attended Boise State University where he graduated in May 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. After graduation Jim continued his part time job at BSU Facilities Operations & Maintenance until he went to work full time at RJM Electronics. He worked at RJM until he turned his full attention on battling cancer in 2010. One of the highlights of Jim's life was when he met Judy Shackelford & fell in love with her & her children. Jims' hobbies included computers, camping & model airplanes. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Donald in 1960 and his mother, Marie in 2002. He leaves behind the love of his life, Judy Shackelford, her children: Josh & Jen Shackelford, Sara, Shaun, & Hunter Wilcox, and Lyndsey & Lukas Day. Jim also leaves behind his brothers & sisters: Helen & Ron Smith, Harry & Jan Rexroad, George & Karen Rexroad, Ronald & Michele Rexroad, Roger Rexroad, Nancy & Tom Madden and nephews & nieces Robert Rexroad, Shawna & Zack Fulton, Seth Rexroad, & Sheree Rexroad. Many thanks from our family to the Boise VA Oncology team: Mike, Colleen, Betty, Barbara, Janet, Lindsay, Tanya and Dr. Zuckerman, you found a very special place in Jim's heart. Thank you Treasure Valley Hospice: Kim, Kerri, Brittni and Craig for helping make Jim comfortable and helping us thru Jim's final days. Internment Services will be held Oct. 14th at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery at 2pm with Memorial Services to follow at 3pm at Summers' Chapel on Ustick Rd.
